A Community-Driven Project
Hey, Booker T Washington Neighborhood, let’s create a park that brings us together.
We want a park that brings all generations together to play, relax, and connect to the heart of the neighborhood.
This effort began with neighbors aspiring for better.
BTW Neighbors promoted workshops to collect ideas.
Teens came together at the Boys & Girls Club and at the Chapin Library, young kids and parents munched on snacks at the Futrell Park school bus stop, and seniors gave feedback over coffee in the park.
Idea Drafts

Moving Forward
The City of Myrtle Beach Parks and Rec Dept. has committed over $500k in funds for updates and new additions. They are already underway with projects scheduled to open in the spring of 2023!
The action team is searching for and securing funding for additional elements of the drafts that are most widely supported by residents.
Meanwhile, neighbors are organizing to activate the park! From fitness to art and ideas - there is something for neighbors of ALL ages to do right now! See the form below to get in on the action.
“I think Futrell Park is an asset to our community, and Futrell would want it to be upgraded and used by the community, the city, and others for different activities. “
— Annie Futrell
